My Vision Board

My latest post for MomDot.com is on vision boards and I thought I’d post some other pictures of my vision board and explain how you can create your very own.

Here is my vision board. It is important to place your board in a prominent place where you will see it every day. My vision board is directly in front of me when I’m sitting at my desk.

For me, my vision board encompasses my dreams, hopes, aspirations while providing inspiration on my current writing project. I’ve posted pictures that remind me of items from my book as well as a mock cover with my current title. I’ve also added things like my dream car, living in Spain, and meeting the Pope!

You can create your vision board a number of ways-including digitally. I used a cork board because I think it’s prettier and much easier to add or remove things than a regular poster board. It is also a lot sturdier for heavier items.

I think it’s important to create a board that reflects who you are. I like the layered, some what messy look, but if you’d prefer yours to be more geometric and organized that is fine. Remember it should reflect who you are.

The most important things about a Vision/Dream board is that you are positive. You want positive affirmations and intent here.

What you’ll need:

To make my vision board I scoured the internet for pictures that reflected my aspirations, dreams, goals. I compiled them all into a folder and when I had enough I printed my favorites. Next I went and did the same thing for magazines. I also clipped letters and phrases that I thought fit. I used scrap-booking supplies to personalize it further and look a little more polished.

When I was done I had a board that truly reflected my goals and big dreams. I also had something that made me happy just to look at. If you haven’t made a vision board yet, I highly recommend that you do.

I want to live in Spain and learn to play the piano well.

Meeting Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October would be freaking fantastic!

Most of my vision board/dream board pertains to my writing.

It is important to envision how you would feel when you accomplish your goals or experience your dreams coming true. That is why I added the phrase “try not to pee your pants” to my “Get Published” intent. I think when I learn that a piece of my work is actually getting published I will find it hard not to pee my pants!

I will have these boots one day. I will!
