As I write this snow is yet again falling rather heavily in big puffy tufts of white from heaven. We’re supposed to get another eight to 15 inches tonight on top of the 35 inches we had this weekend. There is a lot of snow out here and it’s not going anywhere for a really long time. With this fact, I realize that I’ve got to learn to love the snow-or at the very least like it.
The truth of the matter is that I don’t hate the snow-I actually enjoy it. What I don’t like is the hassle that it brings. Not being able to move about freely, the shoveling, the icy pavements (if you were someone as accident prone as I you’d worry about them too).
I have decided however to focus on the good things about the snow. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
It’s beautiful to look at, untouched in my back yard.
My son is having lots of snow days. I’m going to take this time and enjoy him being home all day again.
My husband has been home. A true oddity one that I absolutely love.
We’re going to have lots of fun playing in it.
I may just take the plunge and dive in. I can see it now…a brief sprint off my deck and a big jump as I yell “CANNON BALL!” — I may hurt myself in the process.
A lot of my pals on facebook have been making “snow cream”. I just may give it a whirl. I must confess the idea doesn’t completely appeal to me. I wouldn’t drink rain water unless I were to find my self in some sort of Bear Grylls-esque survival situation, so why would I eat snow? I do think that Michael would go bananas over doing something like that-and in the spirit of-we-only-live-once and who cares if I get a little stomach upset I may just try it!

I am so jealous of all the snow you are getting. We are getting snow now but it’s nothing like you have gotten or are going to get. I think we may have like 4 inches out there now if we are lucky. The wind is whipping and blowing all over the place. If it wasn’t so windy I would take my little girl outside. She loves the snow. It looks so pretty out there now though.
I thought about making slushies with my boys. I did this as a kid. We’d take a cup and scoop up some clean snow. Then we’d get to pour soda over it.

I love your tag — snowpocalypse!
Having lived in upstate NY my entire life, I am used to snow. You would think by now I’d like it but no … I hate the stuff. Hate shoveling it, hate driving in it, hate the cold it brings, etc.
It’s a good thing it’s pretty to look at.

Wow, you guys got way more snow than we did. I love seeing it with the morning light, untouched in the backyard, it just sparkles like a pile of pure white sugar.

Please share what “snow cream” is! I was born in New York and have lived in Iowa and Ohio, you would think that I would know! We have a ton of snow outside too, and I hated shoveling it!

Snow cream is ice cream or a slushie thing you make with the snow…I’ve yet to do it and actually just learned what it was.
Cute pic! That’s a ton of snow!

Wow! That is a lot of snow! We haven’t gotten that much…and I really hope that we don’t. I don’t mind it too much, but like you…don’t like the hassle it brings.
We used to have snow icecream as kids all the time! Not sure I would try it now. Doesn’t sound very safe! haha!
